Silver Lake is more than a place — it's a shared sanctuary. Thanks to disciplined operations and community support, a full 90% of our spending directly funds lake and trail maintenance, not overhead.

But preserving Silver Lake requires more than just physical upkeep. To truly thrive, we must also invest in stronger governance, better communications, and securing our 501(c)(3) nonprofit status — essential steps to sustain our mission for the long term.

That’s why we’re seeking to raise an additional $10,000 annually to fund the operational backbone that makes it all possible.

Over time, runoff and yard waste have filled Silver Lake with sediment, threatening water quality, wildlife, and recreation.

Our last dredge only cost $175,000 — savings made possible by storing 8,458 cubic yards of sediment onsite. By comparison, Murphey Candler Lake’s dredge cost $1.5 million to remove just 38% more sediment with off-site disposal, which our next dredging will require.

Our goal is to raise $750,000 before contracting a lake dredging services firm.

Invasive plants like privet, thorny olive, honeysuckle, and wisteria are overtaking Silver Lake’s woodlands, threatening native habitats and making the preserve harder to enjoy.

Every few years, we fundraise to hire professionals to tackle invasives across our ~32 acres — work that goes beyond routine maintenance and volunteer cleanups.

Our goal is to raise $12,000 before contracting an invasive removal services firm.
